Ramble thoughts of a heady head

November 9th, 2008 by cathyc-ong

It is amazing that the body can last in state of conscious thinking for 24 hours without sleep. Some people may know it  already but now i know it also… personally! I guess this is what doctors call adrenalin.

What am i saying? just some ramble thoughts on yesterday’s occurrence.

Sarap magwork if you’re laughing while working. Believe me, it eases the tension. shouldn’t have taken things so seriously

Playing sudoku while solving problems makes your score lower. :D
When the going gets tough support comes.

People you expect to help may not come thru, but other people you do not expect will come.  divine intervention?

Sabi nila maswerte because the backup worked when the server failed. I will say, good people will think of many things that will go wrong, so that when they go wrong, it will still go right.

It is best to be silent when there is problem.  Think then talk not vice versa

Do not try new solutions in very tight situations. 9 of 10 will fail.

When put in  a decision to decide, DECIDE and be decisive.

Let people do their job. They know it best. Besides, you have your own to tackle.

Listen to what people are saying even if they are ’staff lang’ or ‘contractual lang’,  it may matter a LOT.  (change of params from 360 to 365)

Let your guard down and they will let their guard down.

As quoted from abe lincoln,  ”how can you still ask for more from those who have done so much?”.

A 24-Hour day

November 9th, 2008 by cathyc-ong

1 year and 8 mos down to 24-hour of awaked stated

10 people down to 4.

3 of 10 left standing

5 of 7 replaced

After this project, i’ve learned

1. Best defense against complaint is honesty

2. Best argument is showing the numbers

3. Best environment is still one based on trust and respect

4. Best not to force the issue.  Things will work out eventually

I’ve learned and is learning

1. Not to be angry if things do not go as planned. 8 hours spent on the plan is still better than no planning

2. to accept that people commit mistakes. Even BIG mistakes. Do not be angry at them. One day, they will save your ass.

3. You will hear a lot and a lot more about who, what, when, how, where. Be discerning

4.  take out your angst on your best buddies only. You know they know that you just need an outlet. But you may not mean half of what you’re saying.

Thank you for everybody who have shared their effort,  their precious time.

Sorry for those whom i may have raised voice at, ignored, argued it. It is never personal but my apologies just the same.

For countless hours of thinking over problems and solutions, countless english spent communicating and disseminating, cascading and escalating. Frustrations, cheers, Tired body and more tired mind.

5:00 AM Nov 8 to 5:00 AM Nov 9. Done and over. =)

Psalm 110

“.. sit at my right hand, until i make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”

”Your troops will be willing on your day of battle.”

As the tide rises

December 28th, 2006 by cathyc-ong

As the tide rises and waves come to welcome you

Open your heart and your mind

Listen to the silence of the ocean

Deep within the heart

The answer lies

As the tide rises and the sun sets

and goodbyes have to be said

Goodwill will be thought of

and in the heart

all treasures will be kept.

Thanks for the laughter and the care

My turn will come

and in that time

the heart will speak…

Know Thyself

December 28th, 2006 by cathyc-ong

Sometimes I thought I know myself…….Not fully I guess.

But it is heartening to hear good words from people who sees you when you are unaware that they are looking

and tell you that they are glad they saw you.

Know yourself from the eyes of others but don’t change for the sake of others alone.

The life that Wins

January 14th, 2006 by cathyc-ong

Reword from Watchman Nee’s Book

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ.  I no longer live but Christ lives in me.  The life I live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.

The verse above is the secret to a life that wins.  My nature will really take time to change.  Change cannot happen to me overnight just by thinking and willing to change.  So do I wait until i’m old and gray……?

1.  To Confess

2.  To yield

3.  To believe in his Word (which will never change)

4.  To consecrate

In His Hand

January 14th, 2006 by cathyc-ong

I hear a voice telling me

     Let go and let God

I hear a voice telling me

     Hold on and fight

I hear a voice telling me

    Trust me, trust my Father

I hear a voice telling me

    You can, you will

In silence I thought

    In silence I pondered

In silence I prayed

    In silence I cried

My Father, here I am,

     Your child, your sheep,

I need you,

I let go, I let God

In silence I heard

     My child, here I am

     Hold my hand

My child, look to me

     Rest in me

My child, I know

     Let me.

Cooking

August 8th, 2005 by cathyc-ong

Ever tried cooking? Some people love it. Some people bear with it (if only to survive). Some people try it. Some people plan to try it. Some people talk about it. Some people love the cookbook.

The first time I was asked to cook a dinner, I don’t like it. First, because of the mess I need to clean up afterwards.  Second, because I know I cannot please everyone’s palate.  Third, because I do not know how to cook yet.  Fourth, I don’t have the tongue and the nose for it. Fifth, i do not like the time it takes to finish. Just watching the meat turn from red to brown takes 30 mins.=)

My mom and sis gave me a number of tips so I managed to have some cooked food in the table by night.  Is it delicious? Ask my family and imagine the straight faces they have to maintain while commenting.

Why am I writing about the topic? Because I decided to try cooking again.  What made me do so? I watch a series about a family of cooks and the latest addition to the dynasty made this comment after being praised for his dishes.

"I am not a great cook.  I just imagine that every dish I prepare is for my loved one."

Hearing the way it is said made me realize….. This time I hope to do it the right way. =)

CRAZY DAY

July 18th, 2005 by cathyc-ong

Woke up with a start. Woken up by mother bec. of problem in office.

With eyelids still shut, i turned on my PC and connected to office.

Then fully awake, i tried to sort out the problem.

I can’t find the cause thus i have to zoom to the office.

Tried borrowing our car but it is color coding.  Is this still useful?

Tried asking for the old old old car. But the battery is not working. (it is really OLD)

So I commuted to the office.

With tongue between my teeth I remembered to thank God for the problem (got it from a book by MC)

Midway I ask them to rerun the system and learned that it is already working.

Big sigh of relief!!!

Is it just God waking me up?

GAIN OR LOSS

July 17th, 2005 by cathyc-ong

I watched a film about a lady who unconsciously fell for a clerk in their company. "Unconsciously" because she is "consciously" saving herself for someone she does not know but that someone has helped her financially and emotionally through college.

Life is more colorful after she admitted her feelings for this clerk and put her reservations aside.

But she later learned that the one she is consciously waiting for and unconsciously fallen for is the same person. The clerk does not remember her "in college" because he has acquired a disease that is erasing his memory.

Eventually the guy died and the girl was left with memories of him and all he did for her.

There is a quotation commonly quoted for those who have loved and lost or for those who have not loved at all. The movie made me remember this and pondered if the heartbreak is worth all the time and love given.

THAT’S GOD

July 17th, 2005 by cathyc-ong

Have you ever been just sitting there and all of a sudden you feel like doing something nice for someone you care for. . . THAT’S GOD. .. . He talks to you through the Holy Spirit.

Have you ever been down and out and nobody seems to be around for you to talk to. . . THAT’S GOD .. . He wants you to talk to Him.

Have you ever been thinking about somebody that you haven’t seen in a long time and then next thing you know you see them or receive a phone call from them. . . THAT’S GOD … there is no such thing as coincidence.

Have you ever received something wonderful that you didn’t even ask for, like money in the mail, a debt that had mysteriously been cleared, or a coupon to a department store where you had just seen something you wanted, but couldn’t afford. THAT’S GOD. . He knows the desires of your heart. .

Have you ever been in a situation and you had no clue how it is going to get better, but now you look back on it. . . THAT’S GOD. . He passes us through tribulation to see a brighter day.

DO YOU THINK THAT THIS POST WAS ACCIDENTALLY SEEN BY YOU? NOPE!

I was thinking of You!

In all that we do, we should totally give HIM thanks and our blessings will continue to multiply. This message was sent to me by a close friend so please pass it on to all of your good friends.

Keep this going for an eternity.

NOW THAT’S GOD!!!!!!!!

Don’t tell GOD how big your storm is. Tell the storm how big your GOD is!!!
